What We Do   We are dedicated to promoting the sufficiency of the Scriptures, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit as enough for solving the problems of life. Rather than using man’s methods and worldly wisdom, we believe that changes in the thoughts, beliefs and desires of the heart is what brings about changes in ones life. What this means is that we are not a licensed counseling agency, nor are we psychologically or medically trained therapists. We offer 'pastoral' counseling intended to bring life change through heart change.       The Concept of Biblical Counseling   Biblical counseling is committed to the position that Scripture provides the only authoritative guide for what we are to believe and how we are to live (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The Biblical Counselor is trained in the use of Scripture and the principles of biblical counseling. He or she does not base his or her counsel on mans wisdom, opinions, experience, or concepts of behavior, (Isaiah 55:8-11) but seeks to bring the full range of Biblical truth to focus on the counselee's need (Hebrews 4:12).At Reigning Grace Counseling Center we emphasize the importance of change at the heart level.     The Goal of Biblical Counseling   The goal of Biblical Counseling is heart change for life change. We believe that God's Word contains all we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3-4). When the Word of God is applied to the heart of man we are transformed by the renewing of our minds and these internal changes result in life changes!     The Scope of Biblical Counseling   ·"Anger Management"- (Overcoming Sinful Anger) ·Anxiety ·Alcohol and Drug Abuse ·Communication * Depression ·Fear ·Family Counseling ·Guilt ·Marriage ·Parenting ·Worry     The Process of Biblical Counseling   Our counselors are available by appointment to meet in person with those in the Greater Kansas City and surrounding areas.   For distance counseling, we offer webcam or phone counseling in certain situations.   To protect everyone involved, male counselees are scheduled with men and female counselees are scheduled with women. Our Counselors do not counsel with the opposite gender except in a team counseling situation. Couples, Family, and Small Group Counseling may be facilitated by a member of either sex.   Please ask in advance about our policy on counseling children.   The process of Biblical Counseling at RGCC begins with the completion of the Information Packet. Please download from the link on the right side of this page.   For counseling specifically related to drug and alcohol issues please download the Substance Abuse Forms Packet.   Upon our receipt of your completed Information Packet (by email or snail mail) you will be contacted to schedule your first appointment with a counselor.   Your first appointment will be 60-90 minutes long. All subsequent appointments will be approximately 60 minutes long. All Small Group Meetings will be 120 minutes long.   All counselee's are expected to do homework as a part of the counseling process. This may necessitate the purchase of a few resources (at cost) throughout the duration of your counseling. Toward that end, we ask you to bring $5.00 to your first appointment to purchase a small booklet we will assign you at your first appointment. We do attempt to keep purchasing of resources to a minimum and to a reasonable cost, but we ask you to please plan accordingly.   If we ask or suggest you purchase a resource it is for your benefit.
